    Adventures in Babyfood Making

    Like a lot of moms out there, I decided to make Little Miss M’s baby food. I went through the puree phase, the finely chopped phase and now, at 11 months old, she is eating a combination of what we eat and some foods that are just for her. Below is an outline of what I did and the supplies I’ve used. I am lucky enough to have a bunch of fantastic sister-in-laws, both on my side as well as on my husbands.     Sleep: I think I remember what it is

    A few short weeks into M’s life she started sleeping in long stretches. Before we knew it she was sleeping through the night. Our pediatrician, along with several other people, said, “Don’t tell other mothers that! They’ll hate you!” First of all, that’s stupid. Why should I keep quiet about something my child is doing well because other people might be unhappy? Talk about setting the groundwork for competitive unhealthy parent relationships. Secondly, there were things M struggled with, and while I may have had my insecurities and fears, I wasn’t unhappy that other people’s babies were thriving in those areas. Why?
