Some Thoughts on Breastfeeding… Jenna’s Take

‘Breastfeeding is empowering’ ‘Breastfeeding isn’t always easy, but it is always worth it’ ‘Breastfeeding is the very best diet I’ve ever been on’ Those are some some of the million things that popped up when I googled ‘breastfeeding quotes’. There are so many more, some a bit extreme for my liking but nonetheless these were some that stood out. It is empowering to know that you are feeding your baby from your own body. It’s definitely not easy and you can see that through every women’s own experiences. And diet… I haven’t been that skinny since I was a freshman in college. How many more months until the new baby…

Some thoughts on breastfeeding… Michelle’s Take

We all know there’s plenty of information out there toting the benefits of breastfeeding. By the time I was in my third trimester I was convinced- there was only one option. I don’t know about anybody else, but I felt an immense amount of pressure to not only choose breastfeeding but to have it be this seamless, natural, blissful experience. Well, it wasn’t. I did in fact breast feed Little Miss M for the first 6 months and let me tell you, there is plenty that no one told me, or maybe I was just so clueless that I didn’t get it. It’s Not All It’s Cracked Up To Be Yet It’s Exactly What Is Meant To Be

About 2 1/2 years ago I was newly married (3 months to be exact) and teaching second grade at an inner city school that I absolutely loved. If a person started talking to me like their way is the only way I would just smile and nod and then pretty much disregard them completely. Why? Because no one knows it all. No mom has the best way. No parent has the right answer for everyone. Each…

    The Second Time Around- Pregnancy

I’m currently 16.5 weeks pregnant with my second baby and he/she (we’ll be finding out soon!) is due in October. For some strange reason I seem to have a bit of ‘first pregnancy amnesia’., it’s as if I forgot what it is like to be pregnant. I forgot the feelings of exhaustion; the aches and pains; the food cravings or, in my case, this time the food aversions; the headaches, the heartburn. I am thankful, though, that I did NOT get the morning sickness again this time. Thank heaven I was one of the lucky ones that never had that whole experience, just a bit of nausea here and there)…

    A Letter to my Daughter

Dear Little Miss M, You, my little sweetheart, are my dream come true. Carrying you for 9 months was the greatest honor of my life and giving birth to you is my greatest accomplishment. Right now you are 5 months old. Your days are filled with naps and diaper changes, tummy time and listening to me sing to you and read you books. However, it won’t always be this way. Life will be filled with many wonderful experiences and some challenges along the way as well. As we start out on this journey together I decided to write you this letter. There are a few nuggets of wisdom I’ve picked…
